What’s the best thing for your health that you’re likely NOT taking? Fish Oil.

Fish Oils contain the Omega-3 fatty acids DHA and EPA which provide benefits to your cardiovascular health, joint mobility and brain health. Fish Oil has been shown to help alleviate depression, improve arthritic conditions and fight inflammation.

Fish Oil aids athletes and body builders by reducing inflammation and speeding up the rate of recovery. The benefits of Fish Oil are many, so why haven’t you started taking it?

Fish Oil is one of the few supplements that live up to it’s hype, however there are a few caveats. Fish Oil tends to thin the blood slightly in higher quantities. As such it may not be suitable for diabetics, people on blood thinning medication and folks who are about to undergo surgery. If in doubt, please consult your doctor.

Please note that Cod Liver Oil isn’t quite the same as Fish Oil. Most Cod Liver Oil products have added Vitamins including Vitamin A and E. Due to this you can’t take as much Cod Liver Oil as you can Fish Oil due to the danger of overdosing on Vitamin A. Look for Fish Oil that’s extracted from the fish body and not the liver.

What Fish Oil Should I Take?

You should be taking molecularly distilled Fish Oil that provides a minimum of 180mg of DHA and 120mg of EPA per gram.

How Much Fish Oil Should I Take?

About 3 – 6 grams per day, divided into 3 doses. If you’re an athlete, a hard training individual or are suffering from joint problems, you can go up to 12 grams per day.

Capsules or Oil?

Fish Oil Capsules provide a handy way of carrying your doses around with you but the best value for money (read: you get more Fish Oil for your buck) is Liquid Fish Oil. You can get Liquid Fish Oil that is odorless or is citrus flavored, so you don’t have to worry about the fishy taste.
