Everyone wants to be happy. But not many people would describe themselves as such. A common perception is that happiness is reserved for those who “have it all”,not for those with regular stress- and worry-filled daily lives, like most of us!

But is happiness really a matter of circumstance? Not necessarily. Observe any person who is genuinely happy, and you’ll find that are there certain traits happy people share, especially in the way they choose to look at life.

Happy people cherish the little things.

If a fellow isn’t thankful for what he’s got, he isn’t likely to be thankful for what he’s going to get. –Frank A. Clark

Happy people are conscious of the value in things most take for granted, such ashealth, family, and a nourishing meal, and are thankful for it.

Happy people are surrounded by happy people.

As the saying goes, birds of a feather flock together. A happy person puts great care and effort into seeking out and nurturing the right relationships because he /she knows that our relationships influence us greatly.

Happy people embrace challenges.

People who feel fulfilled are constantly challenging themselves, because they understand the importance of change and resistance in making them better,stronger, and ultimately, happier people.

Happy people are genuine.

Happiness is when what you think, what you say, and what you do are in harmony. –Mahatma Gandhi

Happy people are honest with themselves – they are aware of their own shortcomings and strive to change for the better. They don’t put up a front or try to manipulate people with their actions and words. They are at peace with themselves and those around them, because they are sincere in their motives and actions.
