5 Great Holiday Escapades for Your Family

The best time to spend quality time with your family and have a quick getaway is finally here! Whether you are planning for a big trip somewhere far or a quick budget trip to a nearby cozy hideout, it is no denying that this is an exciting season for everyone. With the recent rise of cheaper flights, you must be spoilt for choice, aren’t you? Here are 5 great holiday destinations – budget and splurge – for the whole family to enjoy:

Sekeping Serendah, Malaysia

An approximate 1 hour drive from Kuala Lumpur lays this pristine little hideaway in Rawang. Located in the middle of a forest, this little nook offers a variety of houses – glass, mud and warehouse – with an industrial concept theme across them all and better yet, this place also offers BBQ facilities and a common swimming pool for all to enjoy. This is a great place if you are looking for a quiet, serene holiday away from the hustle and bustle of city life and just enjoy the whispers of nature with your loved ones. So, pack up your gears and head out of town to this little gem and take a breath of fresh air!

Bali, Indonesia

If you are looking to head off to somewhere of a different culture but are on a budget, Bali is the way to go. Breezy and exotic, this island offers a rich religious culture of Hinduism with amazing ancient architecture of stones and carvings. Everything here is very traditional and laid back; so, it’s a good alternative to your busy lifestyle. Personally, the beauty of Bali is that it is not known for being a shopping hub. It is the place for you to bond with your family and to do adventurous activities like surfing, bungee jumping and of course sightseeing. Some places you should take note of when you are there are Uluwatu Temple, Tanah Lot Temple, Kuta Beach, and Mount Batur, an active volcano. Simply put, it is the perfect destination to relax!

Tokyo, Japan

The city of advanced technology and vending machines of all kinds; this is a country you must visit once in your lifetime (or maybe even more) and what better way to do that than with your family. Tokyo boasts of its jungle of neon lights at the heart of Shinjuku and the crazy anime fashion in Harajuku but aside from the craziness, Tokyo offers a calm and collected side of the city as well. With many beautiful parks and shinto shrines, Tokyo still preserves its traditional roots for you to enjoy and experience. Well-mannered and hospitable, you are sure to find yourself falling in love with the Japanese culture day by day! Some tourist attractions include Tokyo Tower, Sky Tree, the Imperial Palace, and Mount Fuji. But other than that, I would recommend the Ghibli Museum, home of Hayao Miyazaki’s work such as My Neighbour Totoro and Spirited Away. Plus, you should also take some time off your busy itinerary and explore the odds and ends of this beautiful city by foot.

Barcelona, Spain

If you are looking for an exotic holiday far from home, Spain would be a good choice. With a diverse and colourful culture, Spain boasts of tasty cuisines from fresh seafood to seafood paellas and not forgetting their unique architectures. It is a great place for the whole family to soak in the vast cultural difference and to enjoy the beauty Barcelona has to offer. Home to one of the most notable architects Antonio Gaudi, Barcelona hosts some of his greatest work that you must see when you are there. Firstly, there is La Sagrada Familia – an unfinished cathedral up until today and the Casa Mila or La Pedrera, a wave-like building both belonging to the Art Nouveau architectural movement. These buildings are a testament to modern architecture for pushing its limits in structure and in form; so, it is a great honour to visit these places and see for yourself how awe-inspiring these buildings are.

Cappadocia, Turkey

Surrounded by rock-cut buildings and houses among spectacular valleys, Cappadocia looks like a different world entirely plucked out of a fictional movie. This place is not only famous for its culture but it is also a great place for a completely different geological and historical experience – fun for the whole family to discover together! Cappadocia is made famous primarily by their hot-air ballooning and if you are not interested in riding on one, watching the sight of a thousand hot air balloons floating in the sky is certainly quite breath-taking in itself. Among other attractions include visiting underground cities and of course, living in a rock house! So, be prepared to be taken back in time to a city built on natural elements and enjoy while it lasts!   Whether you are on a budget or ready to splurge on a good, long trip, there is always a destination made for you and your family. So, let’s get excited for this holiday season with these wonderful places to visit and discover the beauty behind them together. Happy Holidays!
